The author of this paper is a strict finitist, i.e., he believes that there is no such thing as the mathematical infinite, and an analytical philosopher. Much to his surprise, it seems that an analytical (in contrast to a continental) philosophy of finitude, extending beyond mathematics, is missing or at least not really articulated. The paper sketches the rough outlines of such a philosophy and presents evidence in its favour. The hope is expressed that such a philosophy might help to bridge the gap between analytical and continental traditions.
