The philosophical teachings of the Second Vatican Council are as traditional in Christian thought as they are contrary to the main stream of contemporary philosophy, although they are conveyed here in the form of a dialogue with modern world. Philosophy leads us to some authentic wisdom, so that we can actually know man, the world and God, and especially prove the immortality of human soul and the existence of the creator. Such wisdom is not merely theoretical, but practical too, and gives us access to the objective, eternal law which rules man's individual and social choices. So it is our duty, and consequently our right, to search after this truth on ourselves and on our eternal destiny, which is complete only in the teachings of the Catholic faith. Religious freedom must even be acknowledged as a civil right, be it a right to go wrong, since we must in any case comply with the orders of our conscience. But this knowledge of God and this yearning for some superior life urge us to commit ourselves more deeply into the change of this world. However this commitment is doomed to result in a clash between the Church and most might systems of our times about ethical issues such as: disgraceful work conditions, abortion, women and young people traffic, atheist propaganda, and so on.
